Battery storage
The basic concept of battery storage enables you to maximise self-consumption of the pv by storing your own generated electricity to be used when there is demand. Further reducing your electricity bills
The battery management system monitors the pv system to see if you are importing or exporting electricity. As soon as it picks up that there is sufficient electricity being exported it diverts this excess to the battery and then uses the stored power first when it detects demand in the house. This happens continuously during the day.
The discharge is more consistent as the sun sets, but the length of time the battery discharges into the evening will depend on the size of battery and house load.
Off-Peak Tariffs
Reduction in electricity bills is further enhanced by the battery taking advantage of off-peak tariffs. The battery can be programmed to fill with electricity at specific times when electricity is cheaper (overnight for example) and then discharge the cheaper into the house when the cost to buy from the grid is higher.
